Wishing Everyone a Happy 2013

Hope everyone had a great New Year's Eve... and if your 2012 was anything like mine... I am so glad it's over.

My 2012 was kind of a wild ride... and I am ready to regroup and get down to business.

This year, I am going to amp up my home-based business, work-out at the gym and get toned, finish my current college degree, maybe get a promotion at work (if one becomes available), and then maybe even find someone to spend quality time with...

Even my doctor asked if I was dating someone... that made me truly think about it... and even more depressed. Oh well.

I hope everyone has a great new year and may all your hopes and wishes come true in 2013!

The holidays ... And the ability to give back ... Give it some thought

Well, we made it through Thanksgiving... And it wasn't THAT bad.

Friday was long.... Did my trip to the gym... No black Friday shopping... And then worked 2nd job... For 7 hours... Man, my dogs were barking!!!!!! My son and my mom finished the lights outside (started on Thursday).

Got some sleep, didn't have to get up this morning... Woo hoo!

My mom put the window lights up today and my son put up the tree. I am so not into the holidays... Especially today already.

I went grocery shopping and went to CostCo. Got an awesome free cookbook. Awesome! Recipes look totally awesome... And easy. Cool.

I then spent money on the gifts for the families we are hosting at work, for the holidays.

When planning your way through the holidays, please think about those who are not as fortunate as we are. Even a small gesture is well received. For the food pantry, $30 can buy baby food, cereal, peanut butter, veggies, and even canned items for meals.

At church, we have a hat and mitten tree. Don't have to spend a fortune... Just grab one thing on your way through the store.

This Christmas holiday has brought me the ability to provide (or at least help) others. It makes the holidays a little more special and not so commercial.

Bloggy Mom - Blog Dare 01.04.12

Wednesday January 4, 2012
What I shouldn't have bought this holiday season.

I didn't buy much - I bought gifts for my son and my mom.
Maybe I bought my son more than I needed to, but so what.
Oh wait - I bought myself a new pair of black jeans.
My boss tends to frown when I wear pants that include build-in air-conditioning!!!
I don't buy myself pants very often because I HATE shopping for clothes. I HATE trying on clothes. The whole situation depresses me.....

The holidays are over *kinda*

Christmas is over... I hope the food is done... my days off are over... this year is almost over...
I cannot believe 2011 is just a week from being over. Wow... time went by so fast.
I don't care if we eat dinner tonight... we have been eating for 2 days... enough is enough.
I go back to work tomorrow... although I haven't gotten out of my pajamas at all today... it's been comfy.
We did not have a white Christmas... in fact, it was green and in the 40's. Yeah, well, that's life.
The good thing is that I got to work on my blogs...
Hope everyone had a great holiday.

Christmas Eve Day 12.24.11

Here I sit, in Wisconsin, the morning of Christmas Eve day. There is no snow. The grass is still green, gas prices have jumped to $3.29/gallon, and we are at the end of December. I know the weather reports kept saying we are going to have a nasty winter... which is apparently true for everyone AROUND us. I guess I won't complain. It has been a while since we have had a green Christmas, especially in a region known for shovels, plows, snow blowers, and parka coats.

Anyway... here I sit, in the livingroom, watching cartoons. Today is going to be slow to start - nothing major. Just have to finish the cheese ball for tonight and then we spend time with family. Tomorrow is Christmas morning and we have to go to church because my son has to help with the service, so either we get up and moving really early and open gifts, or they wait until after church. I guess we will see where that leads.

I want to just wish everyone a very Happy Holidays and all the best for the new, upcoming 2012. I also want to thank all my new followers, as I forge a new trail into the land of the blogs, Thank you for all your support and comments. You have all helped me to continue on this journey.

Best wishes to each and every one of you.

Christmas

Yes, Christmas Eve is one week away.

Yes, today is the day I started shopping.

Have I mentioned how not into Christmas I am?

I guess, I don't mind it, but its so commercial. Its no longer about family... its about shopping.

I love the older Christmas music... provided they wait until the first week in December to start it... not before Thanksgiving!!!

My mom calls me Grinch.  Oh well.... WHATEVER!!!!!

Holidays

This has been a long year. So much has happened, but I have to keep moving... every day. No choice.

Holidays are hard for me, but not sure why. I don't like to shop, I don't like crowds, I feel fat so I don't need the food, and then I'm alone, so that doesn't help.

I'm fine until the week of Thanksgiving and then I snap.

I watch the commercials, I hate the holidays, I get depressed, I feel bad for my son because of this.

I am not sure what's on my mind. I have felt this way the past couple years. The biggest obstacle is how this affects my son.

I just really don't work well with the holidays.

Never a dull moment...

This has been a LONG weekend!

I spent much of it on the computer,  between homework and converting my blogs (it did not include cyber shopping! So I did one thing right.)

Thursday was my "I refuse to get out of my jamas for anyone, even company day". Friday *sigh* my son got me out shopping. Saturday was some decorating *sigh, again* and homework. Today was church, our coffee hour, and a medical emergency in our congregation. Instincts kick in and I ran to call 911 while other members took care of the man. You never know how you will react until you have to. More decorating tonight, before dinner (yes, turkey, gravy, and mashed potatoes... again).

I need to get back to work before I go nuts. I have had people under-foot and babbling in my ears all weekend. No quiet time. Need it! So done with this holiday stuff! Aarrgghh!!!!

Reddi Wip topping

So... yummy.... best way to eat it is right out of the can... or with a side of pumpkin pie.

Watching "unwrapped" and they are talking Reddit Wip.

Yum, yum, yum....

Five Question Friday 11.25.11

1. Is there a special dish you prepare that you are famous for? Nope...

2. Are you (did you) go Black Friday shopping ? If that's what you call it... does 7:30 am count?

3. What are your strangest holiday traditions? being with both sides of our family over Christmas

4. Pecan or pumpkin pie? (She actually asked "Apple or pumpkin?" I just T-giving'ed it!) Pumpkin... of course!

5. When will you put up your Christmas tree? Hopefully not soon... I think my son gets antsy about mid-December.

Life's Lessons

Life's Lessons... that I have learned...

1. I am not a big fan of the holidays... ba humbug.

2. I am a morning person, either like it or leave me the hell alone.

3. Do not interrupt me during the last 10 minutes of my tv show.

4. Why is it that the only time anyone wants to talk to me is when I am either on the phone, trying to sleep, or watching the end of a good show?

5. No, no cats NEED to eat breakfast at 4:30 in the morning. You can wait until I get up at 5am... or eat the dry food...

6.Why is it that the garbage can sit outside the backdoor and 3 people walk past it, but no one can grab the little yellow handles and take it to the garage (which you also walk past)???

7. As long as I can pull my hair back into a clip, it does not have to be washed every day.

8. If I don't have to go anywhere, my pajamas are good enough to stay in, even if we do have company!

9. I love my son - I wouldn't trade him for the world... but I would consider loaning him out for a while...

10. Why do I have to repeat myself several times? It is selective hearing or do you truly need a hearing aide??

11. I don't decorate for the holiday. My son and his grandma do that. I am so not into them anymore!

12. Working retail has totally killed the holiday spirit for me! I can live without them...

13. I do love my family (with the exception of some days) and enjoy the time we spend together... and sometimes that is more than enough time!

14. When I get home at night, please let me get my shoes and coat off before hitting me with everything.

15. Can I please use the bathroom in peace? I really don't need to share that time with 3 cats and a child talking through the door.

16. Why is it that the bathroom can be empty for hours, UNTIL I decide to soak in a hot bubble bath?

17. Give me a pack of Oreos and a glass of milk... and leave me alone!

18. Cheese filled pretzel bites... I can make a full three-course meal of those.

19. Going outside in my pajamas is not unusual. If you don't like it - don't look!

20. I have no room in my king size bed for anyone but me... my eight pillows... 6 teddy bears... and 3 real-life cats with claws... so go sleep on the couch.

Holidays... too commercial

I worked in a mall for 4 years part time and then in a boutique for 2 years.

Holidays have become some commercialized! What's up with that?

What happened to holidays with family and being social?

Now it means Christmas sales and all that.

Holidays used to mean family and good food. Now it means shopping,  spending money, going out, and shopping. Everything is commercial. What happened to Christmas Eve church service, family dinner, family Christmas breakfast, opening gifts, and quality time?

Thanksgiving

Can you believe Thanksgiving is only a few days away?
This year is going so fast. I am not looking forward to the holidays.
Ba humbug!
Holidays are not my strength.

Fairy Food candy

Only bought it... too bad it costs almost $6/pound. I found a recipe. It is not too extreme, the only thing is getting to 300 degrees and then trying to do the chocolate coating without making a total mess!!!

I made a batch. Good stuff. Not as hard as the store-bought stuff.

Awesome!!!!!

halloween

Halloween is coming. Today I took my son to Halloween Express and Bartz's. My son likes skeletons, Gorey masks, large furry rats, and giant spiders. I, myself, am not a big Halloween fan.I never have been big on it. I don't like haunted houses either. I will watch some scary movies, but that's about it. Today I bought window clings and lights.

I hope my son enjoys Halloween, even though I can live without it.

Mother's Day

Long day, but it was nice. Went to church, came home & napped with the cats. We are going out for dinner, Gramma, John, and I.
